WHAT
is Missão Vida?
Missão Vida is the first mission sending agency in of the
Evangelical Church of Guinea-Bissau.
WHERE
is Missão Vida?
Missão Vida is based in Bissau, which is the capital city of
the West African country of
Guinea-Bissau. Missão Vida’s principle
target is West Africa.
WHO
is Missão Vida?
Missão Vida was initially the missions department of The
Central Church of the Evangelical Church of Guinea-Bissau, but
has since expanded its vision to create a sending agency where any
church in Bissau can send missionaries through them. Currently
there are over 20 nationals serving as missionaries with them and 8
foreign missionaries partnering with Missão Vida.
WHY
Missão Vida?
West Africa is one of the most neglected regions of the worlds with
regards to missions and church planters. Guinea-Bissau is one of
the few countries in the region that is not under an Islamic
government. Mauritania, The Gambia, Senegal, Guinea, and Mali are all
waiting to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We can not continue to
wait on the “the West”, Guineans are ready to take the Gospel to
their people and the surrounding nations.
WHEN
will Missão Vida start?
Even though Missão Vida is in the “infant stage” as
organization it has been sending missionaries out since 2002. At
the beginning of 2007, the leadership of The Central Church
has made it a priority to develop the structure of the organization
so as to increase its sending potential.
HOW
will Missão Vida function?
Since Guinea-Bissau is one of the 5 poorest nations in the world it
is very difficult for the national churches to financially sustain
missionaries. The vision of Missão Vida is to train up
missionaries that can not only plant churches but can also work to
sustain themselves financially in the community where they are
ministering. As the Apostle Paul made tents, so will this
organization seek to train its missionaries in skills that can feed
and provide for their family. Missão Vida will not only
train and send out missionaries, but it will be there to give
pastoral care and accountability to the missionaries.
